Dealing with a Breakup
Your heart is broken. You and the love of your life have called it quits. Even if it’s not the love of your life, it probably hurts just the same. Dealing with a breakup is never easy – at least if you’re the one who got dumped. Your outlook determines how to deal with a breakup. You have the power to make it good or bad.
Dealing with a Breakup vs. Getting Over It
First, here’s the bad news. It’s possible that you’ll never get over your lost love. Twenty years from now you may still regret the breakup. So in reality you may not actually get over the split. However, that’s not as bad as it sounds.
Not getting over the split isn’t the same as not dealing with it. There’s a difference between getting over something and learning to deal with it. A person may not get over having a disease, but they can learn to live with it. You can do the same when dealing with a breakup.
Is There a Bright Side?
You can take comfort in the fact that not all relationships are successful. That’s not a nice thought, but it’s the truth. If you can accept that some of your relationships will fail, then you’ll be better equipped to deal with heartbreak.
One of the best ways to deal with a breakup is to consider it a blessing. Instead of thinking about what you’ve lost, think about what you can gain. So what your ex wasn’t your eternal soul mate? That doesn’t mean they didn’t serve a purpose.
Maybe your ex helped you become a better person. That personal growth will benefit you in your next relationship. And breaking up with your ex leaves the door wide open for your next partner. Who knows? Your next partner might be “the one” you’ve waited for.
If looking on the bright side doesn’t work, there’s always the dark side. Imagine your ex is a villain that did you a favor by going away. Tell yourself you’re glad the relationship ended, and that dealing with a breakup isn’t hard at all. If that’s what it takes to get you through, then do it.
However, if you are not ready to deal with your breakup but instead want to fight to get your ex back in your life. Be prepared to put in some effort and time. Do you have a plan of action or even know where to start? If you are going to be successful you must have a plan. One that will help you. Do not leave getting your ex back to chance.
